Jonathan attends a workshop at Cocha Cashu Biological Station in Manu National Park, Peru, titled: “Cocha Cashu Vision 2050: charting a 21st century agenda for a premier tropical research station”. Many thanks to the Cocha Cashu staff, San Diego Zoo Global, and workshop participants for a wonderful meeting!

Photo caption: We are celebrating Cocha Cashu’s 50th anniversary this year, but also thinking of the Station’s future in these turbulent times. So we recently invited a dozen researchers from various countries and disciplines to help us re-evaluate, reinvigorate and rebrand the Station to address more modern scientific agendas. Most had never visited Cashu before but maintain vibrant research programs in tropical environmental science elsewhere. After three days of workshop sessions, brainstorming and invaluable feedback, we believe we understand better what we have to do to forge a bright new future for the Station and inspire a new generation of conservation-relevant research, standing on the shoulders of the giants that got us here. The photo above shows all the participants, including Cashu and San Diego Zoo Global staff, at the conclusion of the workshop. We are so grateful to the researchers who took part: David Winkler, Brian Sedio, Louis Santiago, Kenneth James Feeley, James Stroud, Dushmantha Jawawickreme, Luísa Genes, Noelle Beckman, Haldre Rogers, Laurel Yoho, Jonathan Myers, Michael Lanzone, Robert Schaeffer. THANK YOU!
